A long time resident Mexican restaurant was replaced last year with…. an organic vegetarian restaurant called Heirloom! From fajitas with meat in a darker atmosphere to a meatless menu and room so fresh and bright it can make anyone smile – Heirloom has taken over.
Don’t be expecting simple organic vegetarian, because its far from what you get. They are creative and all about flavour and health. It was hard to make a decision when I was visited with a friend.
We started with the Avocado fries – because that is just too different not to have! Lightly breaded, not oily and served with a house-made ketchup, really tasty! My main was a noodle-less lasagna with sage cream – and layered with zucchini – it was truly delightful!
You won’t find the same dishes on the menu today. I like it when a menu rotates and changes based on whats in season. But I can tell you this, our salads were….delicious and filling. And our mains were….equally delicious and filling! Needless to say, we ordered too much, and had to take food home. Be open-minded, even if you are a meat eater, they satisfy your flavour cravings with delicious and local food.
They have a lovely wine menu, creative cocktails, local beer and some delicious desserts.
