Welcome happy hour! And as you tour the city – week by week looking for those great spots to enjoy a post-work drink to unwind with friends or friendly bar staff, be sure to add Charlie’s to your list. If it’s sunny and you are craving the rays of sunshine to warm you, they offer a quaint deck seating just 8 people, which faces Main Street making it easy and entertaining to people watch. Or, if it’s rainy or slighty chilled out, head inside to the very warm and woody ambiance, with a choice of the long bar, high tables against the window or low bench tables in a lower lit area, any choice will be a good one.
Happy hour starts at 5pm and goes until 7pm with $5 cocktails, and some beers on the list. Off the HH list are some Italian favourites like an Aperol Spritz or Negroni. But if it’s wine your after, you won’t find any on special for HH, but the decent wine list does offer a 5 oz. glass of Tollo Trebbiano for just $6 (which is almost like happy hour), and it’s a decent white wine choice. I have enjoyed the Poggiotondo Vermentino, Inama Soave whites and the Valle Del ‘Acate Frappato Sicilian red wine.
Order some snacks to enjoy like mixed olives, or share a thin crust (gluten-free available) fungi pizza with caramelized balsamic onion jam, pecorino cheese and toasted pine nuts (we ordered two it was so good!). I’ve also visited on a Tuesday night for their Pasta & Vino $15 special – a tasty value.
