Bars and Lounges in Vancouver

If you are headed out for the evening and you are looking for a lounge to enjoy drinks, music and maybe light bites, here are some great places to choose from that are not too busy or quiet.

Xi-Shi Lounge at the Shangri La Hotel –

The pink illuminated curtains give this lounge a cozy yet modern atmosphere, and a great place to stay out of the rain. You’ll enjoy a DJ playing some music on weekends, enjoy a good wine and drink list along with some light bites if you need to nibble. I recently enjoyed the Black Truffle Pizza (thin crust and tasty) with some local Kushi Oysters to go along with a bottle of bubbly. Our server on that Thursday night was an amazing, and really made our experience what it was, it might have started with him delivering a bowl of truffled popcorn but in the end it was because of his fun personality.

The Lobby Lounge at the Pacific Rim Hotel –

If you love solo musicians then you’ll enjoy this lounge every night of the week. Extensive wine and cocktail list, sushi bar and live music, and the atmosphere is open and airy, yet comfortable and upscale. On Friday and Saturday nights it does get very busy and turns into destination bar just to give you a heads up.

UVA Wine and Cocktail Bar –

Located at the Moda Hotel and beside the well-known Cibo Restaurant, this lounge/bar is one of my favourites. Choose to sit at the bar and watch the talented Lauren Mote create cocktails or at a table where the staff will teach you a thing or two about their wine list. Order snacks from the bar menu or choose from the Cibo menu, either way you won’t be disappointed. On Friday and Saturdays enjoy live Jazz as well.

More great places…

Bambudda –

A great modern chinese restaurant in Gaston that has creative cocktails, a good wine list and tasty food.

Campagnolo Upstairs –

A hidden lounge above the restaurant offers fantastic cocktails and wine list. Bit of a secret on Main Street.

Notturno –

A tiny bar with all Italian wines, cocktails and small bites – a real find in Gastown.

The Fat Badger –

A restaurant and bar, super cozy British style pub in a house downtown, go for the beer and decent wine list

Coast –

Although a busy restaurant downtown, when you sit at the bar – you’ll have a great time meeting new people or talking with the staff who are fun and really good people.
