Growing up surrounded by the buzz of a travel agency, my love for adventure was practically inevitable. My first career began as a Travel Agent at my Mom’s agency in the charming town of Olds, Alberta. With 30 years of ownership and management under her belt, she instilled in me a passion for exploring the world—and that’s where my story began.
Moving to Vancouver sparked a new curiosity in me. Leaving the small town where I spent my formative years opened the door to exploring diverse cultures, cuisine, and eventually, a love for wine. I continued my career in Travel before transitioning into Tourism, where I launched my own Tour Company, Shopabout Tours, where I guided visitors on foot, showcasing the unique charm of Vancouver’s neighborhoods.
I also ventured into the world of Film and TV, spending over 10 years as an actor and hand model in commercials. Eventually, my curiosity led me to the fascinating realm of wine. There was a time when I had no idea how wine was made, let alone how to taste it like a pro. And what started as simple interest quickly grew into an obsession. I immersed myself in learning, eagerly signing up for one wine course after another, soaking up knowledge like a sponge.

I earned my WSET Level 3 certification while also diving into other specialized programs, such as the French Wine Scholar and the Champagne Master Level Course. Sharing my knowledge became another passion, and I had the privilege of teaching a Wine 101 class to aspiring bartenders.
Today, I am a Wine Professional wearing many hats. I’m a Freelance Digital Marketer, Event & Project Manager, Vancouver Realtor, I moonlight at a local Wine Shop, and document my Wine & Travel adventures on my blog. Through my writing, I explore and share my passions for wine, food, and travel.
I hope my stories inspire you to sip, savour, and explore the world around you in your own unique way!
Cheers, Donita
