Slowly but surely the Fraser Neighbourhood is welcoming cool new eateries, stores and cafes.
Newly opened Osteria Savio Volpe offers a warm, open, modern space on the corner of Kingsway and 15th. Rustic Italian at it’s best. The wine list, cocktails, small and big plates are dam delicious. In no particular order, here are some of the dishes and wine we tried!
I not only enjoyed, but indulged in the freshly baked garlic bread to dip into our meatballs (who doesn’t love a good meatball doused in tomato and cheese goodness!).
As my friend has just started exploring wine, we opted for a bottle of the Cannonau Di Sardegna (Grenache grown on the island of Sardinia in Italy) – think the bad-ass cousin of Grenache from Spain. Mineraly, red fruits with spice.
We started with this refreshing dish of white anchovies, oranges, avocado and pickled chili. Oh my, if only these anchovies knew how lucky they were! And our first beverage of the evening was an Aperol Spritz – a favourite drink from my trip to Italy (usually enjoyed after work with a nibble).
Everything we had above (and the dishes not pictured like: the special Lamb Ravioli, Pork tenderloin with tuna mousse – we devoured them before we realized I hadn’t taken a picture!) were seriously delicious!
They do take reservations, so add this lovely neighbourhood find to your list of places to visit in Vancouver!
