Tofino – for the best seafood!

Yes, you will have to travel 1.5 hours from West Vancouver to Nanaimo on BC Ferries, then 2 hours northwest to the little West Coast town of Tofino. Known for it’s cold water surfing, long natural beaches and surf.

Oh, but that’s not all. The seafood is absolutely delicious and there are some very creative people cooking there.

Eating ideas in Tofino:
Sobo –
I enjoyed the Killer Fish Tacos (chunky fruit salsa on top of wild salmon in a crisp blue corn tortilla) yum! Humpback Shrimp (local) with a bleu cheese creme and baby romain (you wrapped it like a tortilla) – different and tasty. Seafood Stew – fresh local mussels, clams, scallops, humpback shrimp in a leek and tomato stew. Oh my, delicious!

Tacofino – – apparently amazing, however they were closed while I was there 😦

Weigh West Resort – – sit in the pub or restaurant for great views of the inlet, they offer daily food specials, I had the halibut fajitas and an ice cold beer!

Wildside Grill – – stumbled upon this one when I learned the Tofitian (a locals coffee shop) only took cash. OMG, absolutely delicious!!! I had fish tacos (no surprise there) made with fresh fish and tomato salsa along with the yam and coconut soup. Wow. Seriously, I would have eaten there every day!

I was told the best place to watch the sunset is at the Cox Bay Resort
