Savoury Seattle – a road trip

I’ve been going to Seattle for years. Mostly for shopping – yes, but to enjoy happy hour and discover the odd restaurant. I’ve enjoyed Belltown and downtown. But this trip – was off the beaten path!

Staying at The Roosevelt Coast Hotel, put me in a very central spot. Walkable to the Pike market, shopping, Belltown and to a new area for me: Capitol Hill. This is an amazing area, full of restaurants and lounges and hang outs.

You must venture there on your own and discover what there is, but here are some hints:
Anchovies & Olives
bar ferd’nand
(small bites, wine and a wine shop)
The Tin Table

Tavern Law
(known for their old school cocktails & the balsamic vinegar beer – don’t question, just try it!)
Barrios
(go for happy hour tacos, a meal and try their Sangria) (sister restaurant Purple is downtown and a great spot as well)
Spinasse
(try the traditional Italian dish – porcetta with tannato port and tuna mayo – OMG it’s good! Foi Gras with beets and chestnuts and five spice reductions; Cabbage and Pork Cheek with carmalized onion – this was delicious!)
La Spiga
(possibly the best Italian wine list)

Closer to the hotel and downtown I discover this brilliant find:
Mistral Kitchen
(great atmosphere, try the newest trend – the perfectly poached egg on salad – cooked to a specific temperature – it was quite delicious, for dessert – the fig creation was amazing!)

A drive away from downtown is Ballard, the new upcoming area, you’ll find a regular neighborhood until you deak off the main street into old heritage and brick buildings, 2-4 blocks long. Here you’ll discover unique shops, funky restaurants drawing a local crowd to hip and trendy upscale eateries.
definitely try:
El Cartel Mexican – of course what is a trip without some delicious fish tacos & a corona!

And if you want a great little tour try: Savor Seattle Food Tours
